Mubasher: Bank lending in Qatar witnessed a 5.9% year-on-year increase in September, registering a fresh historic level, Qatar Central Bank (QCB) said.
Loans increased to QAR 948.2 billion ($260.9 billion) in September, compared to QAR 894.9 billion ($246.2 billion) in the same month a year earlier.
On a monthly basis, loans levelled up 2.4% last month, against QAR 925.8 billion in August.
The central bank attributed the monthly lending increase to the growth in the public sector's credit facilities, which went up 4.9% to QAR 357.2 billion in September from QAR 340.6 billion in the previous month.
As for the private sector, bank lending inched up 1.02% to QAR 574.4 billion in September, from QAR 568.6 billion in the prior month.
Meanwhile, bank credit to non-banking financial institutions operating in the world’s biggest LNG exporter recorded QAR 16.61 billion in September versus QAR 16.62 billion in the previous month.
