Doha – Mubasher: The Qatari banking sector continued its strong growth, as its total assets are expected to reach $380 billion by 2017, with a rise of 37% compared to 2014, according to figures released on Monday by the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA).
The figures showed a notable increase in assets, loans and deposits with a compound annual growth rate of 16.5% between 2009 and 2014. Local banking services also leapt by 16%.
The financial services contribution in the gross domestic product edged 14% up in 2014 from 5% in 2009.
