Qatar’s benchmark index rises 3.49% in week

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s main index closed the forth week in December in green, as it rose 3.49% or about 345.80 points, reaching the level of 10,258.72 point.

The market value leapt about 3.14% to QAR 541.59 billion this week, versus QAR 525.09 billion last week.

QE Al Rayan Islamic Index increased by 3.9% to 3,798.82 points, and the All Shares Index rose by 3.23% to 2,732.5 points.

The total value of traded shares declined 25.94% to QAR 956.73 million, versus QAR 1.29 billion last week. Also, the number of traded shares dropped 11.38% to 27.95 million, compared to 31.54 million shares exchanged last week. 

The number of executed transactions dropped 17.48% to about 15,550 contracts, against around 18,850 contracts executed last week. 

The telecom topped QSE sectors as it rose 7.57%, while the transportation made the deepest loss with 0.62%.

Out of 42 companies traded this week, 33 closed higher, four others declined, and the six remaining were flat.

Gulf International made the biggest trading value activity with 18.38% of the total value, followed by Masraf Al Rayan and Qatar National Bank with 10.32% and 7.89% respectively.

The main index closed last week at the level of 9,912.92 points after falling 1.02% or 102 points.
