Qatar’s cabinet endorses 2019 draft budget

Mubasher: Qatar’s cabinet on Wednesday approved the draft budget for the fiscal year 2019, a draft law on ratifying the budget, and referred to the advisory council.

The 2019 draft budget has allocated provisions for the 2022 World Cup as well as Qatar National Vision 2030, according to the cabinet’s weekly meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser al-Thani.

The PM said that the budget would also support food safety projects and public spending.

The finance ministry previously expected the 2018 budget deficit to fall 1.1% to QAR 28.1 billion compared to QAR 28.4 billion a year earlier.

The gas-rich nation finances its budget deficit through issuing debt instruments.
