Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s consumer price index (CPI) in January rose 0.6% month-on-month to 107 points and 2.8% year-over-year, announced the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS).
January CPI data, compared to December, demonstrated that seven major groups made progress; three others fell; and only two stood at the previous month’s levels.
The advancers were headed by the transport group with a rise of 3.1%, then came recreation and culture (+1.7%), clothing and footwear (+1.3%), restaurants and hotels (+1.3%), furniture and household equipment (+0.8%), communication (+0.2%), as well as housing, water, electricity & gas (+0.1%).
In contrary, the prices of food and beverages, miscellaneous goods and beverages, along with health declined by 2.5%, 0.2%, and 0.1% correspondingly.
Tobacco and Education group remained flat at the previous month’s level.
