Mubasher: Qatar’s economic growth rose 1.4% year-on-year for the first quarter of 2018, the ministry of development planning and statistics (MDPS) said on Sunday.
The gas-rich nation's growth domestic product (GDP) reached QAR 199.20 billion ($54.72 billion) in Q1-18, compared to QAR 196.52 billion ($53.98 billion) in Q1-17.
Quarter-on-quarter, GDP of the world’s biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter declined 3.6% in the January-March period of 2018, versus QAR 206.74 billion in Q4-17, the ministry's data showed.
The value-added tax (VAT) estimates at the fixed prices in the non-mining sector levelled up 4.9% year-on-year to QAR 105.13 billion in Q1-18.
As for Qatar’s GDP with the current prices, it advanced 7% to QAR 149.93 billion in the first three-month period ended 31 March, compared to QAR 160.44 billion in the same period a year earlier.
