Mubasher: Foreign investment in Qatar witnessed a 4.9% year-on-year decline for the second quarter of 2018, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) reported on Sunday.
Total foreign investments amounted to QAR 682.3 billion ($187.5 billion) in Q2-18, compared to QAR 718.1 billion ($197.3 billion) in Q2-17.
Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Qatar reached QAR 125.5 billion in Q2-18, down from QAR 131.4 billion in the same period of the previous year, according to the MDPS’s recent survey.
The survey targeted large the private and government-owned enterprises, which accounted for 84% of the value of inward FDI of non-banks enterprises in 2016.
On the other hand, Qatar’s overseas investment plunged 7.9% to QAR 387.3 billion in the three-month period ended June, versus QAR 420.5 billion in the same period of the year before.
