Qatar’s inflation rate eases in Dec.

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s consumer price index (CPI) inched reached 106.4 points in December 2015, dipping 0.1% month-on-month and 2.7% year-on-year, according to the monthly report of the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.

Out of 12 groups included by the price basket, three groups were up, four others dropped and the five remaining were flat.

The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group was the top riser by 0.8%, followed by Recreation and Culture group by 0.3% and transport, travel and tourism group by 0.2%.

Meanwhile, clothing and footwear, food and beverages, furnishing and household equipment and miscellaneous goods and services groups decreased by 1.9%, 1.2%, 0.7% and 0.4% m/m respectively. Tobacco, health, telecom and education groups stood at the same rates in December 2015.

However, the education group soared 1.9% y/y in December 2015, food and beverages rose 6.3%, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels jumped 3.4%, telecom increased 3.2% and transport was up 3.1%.
