Mubasher: Qatar's inflation, based on the consumer price index (CPI), rose 0.8% year-on-year in February.
Inflation increased to 109.3 points in the second month of 2018 from 108.4 points in the same month a year earlier, the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS) said in a report on Tuesday.
The report ascribed the year-on-year change in inflation to the net effect of increases in seven main groups topped by the transport sector which jumped 7.9%, followed by the health and food and beverages with 5.3% and 3.9%, respectively.
Meanwhile, other three main groups witnessed a drop topped by the housing, water, electricity and gas segment, which declined 5.1%, followed by the communication, restaurants and hotels, which levelled down 1.1% and 05%, respectively, the report highlighted.
Month-on-month, prices of seven main groups kept stable, while the food and beverages group and housing, water, electricity and gas segment saw a drop during February by 0.1% and 0.3%, respectively.
Moreover, three other groups went up, topped by recreation and culture with 0.4%, according to the report.
