Mubasher: Qatar’s non-oil exports surged 56% year-on-year to QAR 2.12 billion ($582.4 million) in January, according to Qatar Chamber’s monthly report.
Month-on-month, non-oil exports hiked 62.4% compared to QAR 1.3 billion in December 2017.
The total value of Qatar's exports rose, scoring the highest level in 13 months, despite the geopolitical dispute between Qatar and four Arab countries, which took place in June, Saleh Hamad Al Sharqi, Qatar Chamber acting director general, said.
The number of importers from Qatar increased to 61 countries in January from 59 in the prior month, and included 13 Arab countries alongside GCC members, added to 31 European countries including Turkey, 16 Asian countries, 12 African ones, and four countries from North and South America, according to the report.
Oman remained the key GCC market for Qatar's exports in January, accounting for around 34.7% of Qatar's overall non-oil exports with a value of QAR 734.9 million, followed by Turkey with a total value of QAR 464.5 million.
Hong Kong ranked third in terms of nations importing from Qatar with QAR 108.03 million, followed by South Korea and Hungary with QAR 97.1 million and QAR 89.5 million, respectively.
