Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s population exceeded 2.412 million people last October, with a rise of 8.8% compared to the same month last year, when the number hit 2.216 million people, according to statistics released on Monday by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) .
The figures also showed a year-on-year increase of 4.9% in the number of arrivals to Qatar in the first ten months of 2015 compared to the same period last year, as visitors from the Gulf Cooperating Council (GCC) countries constituted the majority with about 44.7% of the total number of Qatar’s visitors.
Marriage contracts also leapt in October by 4.2% month-on-month, and reached 3,152 contracts by the January-October period this year, while the divorce cases declined by 52.6% to 1,233 cases in the same period.
