Mubasher: The value of payment system transactions of the retail and wholesale sector in Qatar registered a growth in volume and value in 2017, registering QAR 3.9 trillion ($1.07 trillion), official data revealed.
Transactions processed by SWIFT system contributed about 85% of payment operations in 2017, while NAPS system acquired the same proportion, according to Financial Stability Review report by Qatar Central Bank (QCB).
Transactions under QTACH levelled up 9.2% and 9.3% in terms of value and volume, respectively, in the previous year, the report added.
Meanwhile, the value of electronic cheques clearing (ECC) fell 3.9% last year and its volume shed 0.7% in the same period.
