Mubasher: Qatar's trade balance surplus hiked 39.5% year-on-year in August, according to a report released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) on Wednesday.
The gas-rich country’s trade surplus amounted to QAR 17.52 billion ($4.8 billion) last month, against QAR 12.56 billion ($3.5 billion) in August 2017.
On a monthly basis, Qatar’s trade surplus rose 3.7% in August, compared to QAR 16.9 billion in July.
The rise in trade balance surplus was attributed to a 23% increase in exports, which registered QAR 26.4 billion in August, compared to QAR 21.4 billion in the corresponding month a year ago.
The Persian Gulf nation’s imports witnessed a 0.3% year-on-year rise to QAR 8.89 billion in August.
