Qatar’s trade surplus rises 3% in Feb.

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s trade surplus rose in February by 3% month-on-month to QAR 7.4 billion ($2.03 billion), and dropped by 53.5% or QAR 8.5 billion ($2.33 billion) compared to February 2015, Qatar News Agency said Sunday citing a report by Minister of Development Planning and Statistics.

Total exports value declined 4.8% m/m to QAR 17 billion ($4.67 billion) and slid 32.5% year-on-year.

Total imports value also decreased by 10.1% m/m to QAR 9.6 billion ($2.63 billion), but rose 3.5% y/y.

Japan topped importers of Qatari exports last month with a stake of 17.2% of the total Qatari exports worth QAR 2.9 billion ($796.45 million), followed by South Korea and India with a stake of 15.7% and 13.6% respectively.
