Qatar stocks close 0.6% lower

Doha-Mubasher: Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QE) benchmark closed Sunday with a slight loss of 0.6% or 59.43 points to 9,907.82.

The bourse was hurt by the decline of four sectors, led by services which dropped 1.04%, then real estate (-0.96%), banking (-0.5%) and industrial (-0.32%).

On the flipside, the telecom sector rose 0.73%, followed by the transport (+0.43%) and insurance (+0.06%).

Turnover increased by 16.9% to QAR 458.48 million, compared with QAR 392.1 million on Thursday. Trading volume also increased to 12.89 million shares from 12.27 million shares, and the number of transactions rose from 5,180 to 5,930.

Ahli Bank was the major disappointment, falling 4.18% to QAR 41.25. Meanwhile, Investors led the way in gains, rocketing 9.98% to QAR 32.5.

Gulf International was the most active with a traded volume of 2.14 million shares, while Al Rayan led in turnover with more than QAR 79 million.
