Qatar to attract $145bn foreign investments in 2018 – Report

Mubasher: Foreign investment inflows to Qatar are expected to witness a 20% year-on-year increase, according to a recent report released by the Institute of International Finance (IIF).

Qatar is to lure total investments of $145 billion during the full-year 2018, the report found.

Meanwhile, Qatari outflows to overseas markets are projected to decline by $20 billion year-on-year in 2018, it added.

For the first quarter of 2018, foreign investments in the gas-rich nation retreated by 10.3% year-on-year, or QAR 77.4 billion ($21.3 billion), according to recent statistics by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS).

Foreign investments in the world's richest country per capita recorded QAR 676.4 billion ($185.8 billion) in Q1-18, compared to QAR 753.8 billion ($207 billion) in Q1-17.
