Mubasher: Qatar is planning to increase maritime shipping lines between with Iran, Hadi Haqshenas, deputy head of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) for Maritime Affairs,.
"The Qataris who supplied their goods through Saudi Arabia and the UAE before (the siege and) sanctions have now requested increased maritime shipping between Iran and Qatar to bolster mutual trade," Haqshenas announced on Saturday.
Since 5 June 2017, Qatar has been facing outflows of foreign customers' deposits after four Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia cut their diplomatic and trade ties with the gas-rich state, accusing Qatar of financing terrorism. Doha forcefully denies the charges.
Haqshenas noted that goods that are transited from Turkey and other countries to Qatar are allowed to use the proper shipping lines at Bushehr port to carry goods to the Qatari ports.
"We are now witnessing an eye-catching growth in shipping lines between the Iranian and Qatari ports," Haqshenas commented.
It is worth noting that Iran’s total exports to Qatar, the world’s biggest supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG), reached $47.66 million in June.
