Mubasher: Qatar Armed Forces on Tuesday inked an agreement with the Turkish automotive company BMC to purchase 85 armed vehicles.
Under the agreement, Qatar will buy 50 BMC kirpi Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles and 35 BMC Amazon 4x4 multi-purpose armoured vehicles.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2018), which began on Monday 12 March in Doha.
Relations between Qatar and Turkey have grown significantly over the past few years, especially after Qatar’s geopolitical dispute arose last summer, prompting the GCC member to enhance its armed forces through handling and signing several deals in 2017.
Since 5 June 2017, Qatar has been facing outflows of foreign customers' deposits after four Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia cut their diplomatic ties with the gas-rich state, accusing Qatar of financing terrorism.
