Qatar trade surplus rises 13% in October

Mubasher: Qatar’s trade balance surplus surged 13% to QAR 8.7 billion ($2.3 million) in October 2017 from QAR 7.7 billion ($2 billion) in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics report.

The trade surplus declined 31% or QAR 3.9 billion at QAR12 billion in September 2017 compared to the same period in the prior year.

The value of the Qatari exports increased 12% to QAR21 billion, according to the repot.

Qatari exports grew 12% year-on-year to QAR 21 billion.

According to the ministry, the rise in exports is attributed to the 8.5% upsurge in oil, natural gas and hydrocarbon exports to around QAR 12 billion.

India was the biggest importer, as it accounted for QAR 3.5 billion or around 16.7% of total Qatari exports.
