Qatar unemployment falls 0.1% in Q3-17

Mubasher: Qatar’s unemployment rate inched down 0.1% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics revealed in report on Tuesday.

Jobless rate in the world’s biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas decreased 0.1% in Q2-17 to 2,780 people, according to the ministry’s Labor Force Survey.

The number of job seekers in Doha reached 2,854 people in Q3-17, of which males accounted for 38.7%, while females made up 61.3%.

The unemployment rate of Qatari people amounted to 0.4%, of which 0.3% were males and 0.7% were females, the report stated.

Age group between 15 and 24 years registered the highest unemployment rates of 0.6% in Q3-17 of the total unemployed, the reported showed.

The total number of participants in labor force recorded 2.04 million people in Q3-17, of which males represented 86.4%, meanwhile females made up 13.6%.
