Doha – Mubasher: Qatargas, the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer, signed on Tuesday a technical cooperation deal with Denmark’s AP Moller Maersk (Maersk Group) and Royal Dutch Shell, to discuss the possibility of using LNG as marine fuel.
The company expected that using LNG as a marine fuel will help in reducing carbon dioxide and nitrogen emissions by 25% and 45% respectively, and completely eliminate sulphur oxides emissions compared to traditional fuels.
Maersk Group operates about 17% of container carriers in the world.
