Qatari Bourse closes 0.7% higher

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Exchange’s main index ended Wednesday’s session rising 0.71% or 77.88 points to the level of 10,996.41 points.

Trading volume retreated to 9.6 million shares from 13.53 million shares exchanged on Tuesday, turnover also shrank to QAR 305.36 million from QAR 565.99 million.

The index was backed by the rise in blue chips as Masraf Al Rayan topped the green list with a growth of 2.9%, and QIB rose by 2.04%.

The telecom sector was the best performer after adding 1%, supported by an increase of 1.05% in Ooredoo and 0.8% in Vodafone Qatar. The banking sector leapt by 0.36%.

On the other hand, the consumer goods and services sector was the only loser as it fell by 0.17%.
