Qatari bourse closes on negative note

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Sunday’s session falling by 0.07% or 7.25 points to the level of 9,948.74 points.

Trading volume decreased to 7.3 million shares from 85 million shares exchanged on Thursday, turnover also retreated to QAR 216.44 million from QAR 305 million.

The index was pressured by the fall in most of blue chips as Commercial Bank of Qatar declined 4%, Ezdan Holding shrank 1.44%, Industries Qatar slid 1.3% and QNB dropped 0.7%.

The consumer goods and services sector grew by 2.6% as Medicare Group advanced topped gainers with a growth of 10%.

The real estate sector grew 0.19%, backed by a 5.7% rise in Barwa Real Estate. The telecom sector leapt 0.12% as Vodafone Qatar rose 1%.

Meanwhile, the banking and insurance sectors declined by 0.56% and 0.48% respectively.
