Qatari bourse erases early losses, shuts 0.42% higher

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) advanced on Monday, as it offset the decline seen earlier during the day.

The main index rose by as much as 0.42% or 42.30 points to close at 10,231.52 points. All-Share Index added 0.18% to reach 2,852.46 points, while Rayan Islamic Index shed 0.21% to 4,014.46 points.

Equities were dragged lower in early trade by the news that the meeting of the world’s biggest oil producing countries in Doha Sunday failed to reach an agreement on freezing output.

Today’s traded volume amounted to 8.63 million shares, up 74% year-on-year from 4.96 million shares. Traded value also increased by 82.9% to QAR 285.48 million, from QAR 156.12 million.

Insurance sector was the biggest gainer (+2%), followed by transportation (+0.66%), while commodities led decliners with a fall of 0.86%.

Tracking stock performance, Investors was the worst performer (-3.71%), while Cinema led the way on gains (+9.71%).

Mazaya Qatar was the volume leader, upon exchanging 1.26 million shares, while Gulf International was the most active with a traded value reaching QAR 40.9 million.
