Qatari bourse gains 170 pts in week

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) rose this week by 1.69% or 170.18 points to the level of 10,224.13 points.

Trading volume increased 18.06% to 54.99 million shares from 46.58 million shares exchanged last week, turnover also grew 25.25% to QAR 1.63 billion from QAR 1.3 billion.

The market capitalisation leapt 2.01% to QAR 554.01 billion ($151.18 billion) from QAR 540.14 billion ($148.19 billion) a week ago.

The bourse’s sectors rose collectively, topped by the banking sector with a growth of 41.36%, followed by the industrial sector with an increase of 22.13%. The real estate sector levelled up 15.71%.

Qatar First Bank topped gainers by adding 7.92%, while Mannai Corp led decliners after falling by 3.31%.

Qatar Islamic Bank led the week’s trading with a share of 9.92% of the total turnover, followed by QNB and Qatar Industries with stakes of 8.67% and 7.09% respectively.
