Qatari bourse loses QAR 3.5bn in week

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) main index fell this week by 0.61% or 60.05 points to the level of 9,714.93 points, compared to 9,774.98 points last week.

The market capitalisation declined 36.04% or QAR 3.45 billion to QAR 524.88 billion, versus QAR 528.33 billion a week ago.

Trading volume decreased 40.12% to 24.84 million shares from 41.48 million shares exchanged last week, turnover also shrank to QAR 801.42 million from QAR 1.25 billion.

The telecom sector was the week’s worst performer after falling by 2.13%, followed by the real estate sector (-1.7%), transportation (-1.68%) and banking (-0.21%).

The green list included 15 stocks, topped by Medicare Group with a growth of 8.22%, while the red list comprised 24 stocks headed by Gulf Warehousing with an 8.22% fall.

QNB led the week’s trading activity as it acquired 25.72% of the total turnover, followed by Vodafone Qatar and QIB with stakes of 9.46% and 6.64%.
