Qatari bourse rises 0.27% in week

Doha – Mubasher:  The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended the first week of August on a positive note as its benchmark index grew by 0.27% or 28.77 points to the level of 10,652.31 points.

Turnover decreased this week by 16.3% to QAR 926.82 million from QAR 1.106 billion reached last week, trading volume also shrank by 1.6% to 25.62 million shares from 26.03 million shares exchanged a week ago.

The banking sector was the best performer after adding 1.3%, whereas the insurance was the worst performer with a 3.2% decrease.

The Commercial Bank of Qatar topped gainers with a growth of 3.96%, while Ahli Bank headed the red list with a fall of 4.95%.

Qatar Islamic Bank led the week’s trading with a stake of 10.51% of total turnover, followed by Masraf Al Rayan and QNB with stakes of 9.55% and 8.8% of total liquidity respectively.

The market capitalisation increased this week by 0.17% to QAR 572.359 billion ($157.03 billion), versus QAR 571.388 billion ($156.76 billion) last week.
