Qatari bourse sees 14 merger, acquisition deals in 2016

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) witnessed in 14 agreements, comprised to acquisitions and two mergers.

In June, Qatar Petroleum (QP) said that that it will merge with Tasweeq w by the end of 2016.

On 11 December, QP said it plans to integrate the activities of RasGas and Qatargas operating companies under a single entity, named Qatar gas. The merger is expected to be completed within the next 12 months.

In terms of acquisitions, Mannai Corporation acquired in April a majority stake of 16.66 million shares France’s Gfi Informatique Company for 8.5 euros per share, totalling 255% of the capital.

On 12 July, Qatar Airways a 10% stake in LATAM Airlines.

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), on 23 August, acquired a stake of 9.9% in Empire State Building for $622 million.

Qatar National Bank (QNB) reached an agreement in December to acquire the full stake of National Bank of Greece (NBG) in Turkey’s Finansbank for 2.7 billion euros.

On 11 December, the QIA and Glencore signed an agreement to buy 19.5% stake in Russian - based Rosneft Oil Company owned by Rosneftegaz.
