Qatari bourse sheds 297 points; all indices down

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange closed Wednesday in red, as it lost 3.31% or 297.13 points to 8,689.37 points.

Al Rayan Islamic Index slid 4.18% to 3,081.46 points, and the All Shares Index slipped 3.01% to 2,312.6 points.

Trading volume reached 7.81 million shares worth QAR 290.73 million through 5,374 trades, compared to 14.01 million shares exchanged yesterday at QAR 367.34 million through 6,881 transactions.

The real estate was the worst performing sector after dropping 6.06%, followed by the industrial sector which went down 3.86%, while telecom was the only gainer as it edged higher 0.58%.

Eight shares, out of 42, closed in green, whereas the other 33 closed lower.

Doha Insurance was the best performer as it grew 4.17%, while Islamic Holding topped decliners with a decrease of w8.4%.

Vodafone Qatar was the largest-traded stock after 1.15 million shares changed hands, while QNB generated QAR 55 million, the day’s largest turnover.

The main gauge closed yesterday with a rise of 5.51% or 470 points to 8,986.50 points.
