Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Exchange’s main index rose this week by 0.47% or 48.49 points to the level of 10,438.45 points, compared to 10,389.96 points last week.
Trading volume declined 4.9% to 22.73 million shares from 23.91 million shares exchanged last week, while turnover increased to QAR 901.81 million from QAR 832.75 million.
The market capitalisation rose 0.79% this week to QAR 562.55 billion ($154.35 billion), compared to QAR 558.13 billion ($153.14 billion) a week ago.
The transportation sector was the worst performer after dropping by 1.3%, followed by the consumer goods and services sector with a 0.9% decrease, telecom (-0.84%), insurance (-0.49%) and industrial (-0.2%).
On the flipside, the banking and real estate sectors rose by 1.53% and 0.8% respectively.
Qatar Cinema was the week’s best performing stock after adding 8.4%m while Medicare Group was the worst after falling by 8.7%.
Qatari Investors led the week’s trading activity 11.25% of the market’s total turnover, followed by QNB and Medicare Group with 10.39% and 8.13% respectively.
