Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) main index rose in the third quarter of 2016 by 5.86% or 580.21 points to the level of 10,465.43 points, versus 9,885.22 points Q2-16.
Trading volume amounted to 300.6 million shares in Q3-16, 36% down from 469.6 million shares exchanged in Q2-16; turnover also shrank 14.5% to QAR 13.6 billion from QAR 15.9 billion.
The market capitalisation rose in Q3-16 by 5.3% to QAR 560.7 billion ($153.5 billion), compared to QAR 532.7 billion ($146.2 billion) for Q2-16.
In September, the index declined 5% or 554.33 points to the level of 10,435.46 points, versus 10,989.79 points in August.
Trading volume fell 19.5% this month to 131.8 million shares from 163.8 million shares exchanged in August; turnover also declined 13.2% to QAR 5.9 billion from QAR 6.8 billion.
Out of 44 companies, four stocks came in the green list, 39 others declined and the remaining one was flat.
