Qatari index gains 90 points in week

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) rose in the last week of March by 0.88% or 90.70 points to the level of 10,376.20 points, compared to 10,285.50 points last week.

Al Rayan Islamic Index also leapt 2.96% or 116.69 points to 1,061.95 points, and the All Share Index advanced 1.82% or 51.44 points to 2,881.97 points.

Turnover fell this week by 4.47% to QAR 1.84 billion from QAR 1.93 billion last week.

Trading volume also decreased 5.88% to 48.39 million shares from 51.4 million shares exchanged a week ago.

The telecom was the best performing sector as it rose 8.24%, followed by the industrial (+4.38%), real estate (+2.20%), transportation (+1.21%) and banking (+0.15%).

On the other hand, the consumer goods and services and insurance sectors declined 0.25% and 0.11% respectively.

Qatari Investors Group topped gainers by adding 44.88%, while Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) headed losers by falling 6.15%.

Masraf Al Rayan was the largest-traded stock with 5.05 million shares exchanged at QAR 180.24 million, whereas made the highest liquidity with QAR 194.23 reached through exchanging 3.69 stocks.

The bourse’s main gauge declined last week by 1.35% or 140.47 points to 10,285.50 points.
