Qatari market closes on negative note

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Monday’s trading at the level of 10,317.65 points after shrinking 0.1% or 10.19 points.

 Al Rayan Islamic Index also fell 0.39% to 3,852.18 points, and the All Share Index lost 0.09% to 2,794.86 points.

Trading volume increased today by 33.78% to 9.9 million shares, versus 7.4 million shares exchanged yesterday.

Turnover also rose 7.79% to QAR 278.42 million ($76.45 million) from QAR 258.3 million ($70.92 million) on Sunday.

The industrial sector was the worst performer as it slid 0.77%, followed by transportation, real estate and telecom which fell 0.39%, 0.09% and 0.06% respectively.

Meanwhile, the insurance, consumer goods and services and banking sectors advanced 0.99%, 0.23% and 0.07% respectively.

Qatar Industrial Manufacturing topped losers with an 8.02% decrease, whereas Alijarah was the best performer after adding 10%.

Alijarah made the biggest trading volume with 2.48 million shares, while Barwa made the highest liquidity with QAR 58.73 million ($16.12 million).

The main index rose yesterday 0.15% to 10,401.6 points.
