Qatari stocks edge up 16 points at close

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange finished Tuesday’s trading in the green territory, making the third rise in a row.

The benchmark index inched up 0.16% or 15.93 points to the level of 9,873.13 points, All Share Index moved up 0.36% to 2,636.95 points. However, Al Rayan Islamic Index declined 0.16% to 3,536.39 points.

Trading volume rose 69.68% to 14.2 million shares from 8.37 million shares exchanged yesterday. Turnover also leapt 26.86% to QAR 385.16 million, versus QAR 303.59 million.

Five sectors closed the session in green, topped by consumer goods and services with a growth of 4.1%, while transportation came in second as it added 1.26%, followed by Insurance which grew +0.52%. The real estate and banking sectors both gained +0.18%.

On the other hand, the telecom and industrial sectors dipped 0.92% and 0.12% respectively.

Woqod was the best performing share as it advanced 7.17%, while Aamal was the worst after falling 10%.

Salam International Investment was the most active, making a trading volume of 4.6 million shares and turnover of QAR 55.9 million, with a rise of 4% in the share.

The benchmark grew yesterday 2.67% or 256.23 points to 9,857.20 points.
