Qatari stocks gain 293 points at close

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) continued its positive performance for the second day in a row on Thursday.

The benchmark index closed at 9,272.01 points after growing 3.26% or 292.51 points, Al Rayan Islamic Index rose 2.08% to 3,263.23 points and the All Share Index jumped 3.02% to 2,458.99 points.

Trading volume increased 71.3% to 12.08 million shares from 7.05 million shares exchanged yesterday. Turnover jumped 86.2% to QAR 396.85 million, versus QAR 213.15 million on Wednesday.

The main sectors advanced collectively, topped by insurance (+8.04%) then real estate (+3.42%), banking (+3.08%), industrial (+2.74%), telecom (+2.24%), consumer goods and services (+1.35%) and transportation (+0.05%).

Qatar Insurance topped risers by adding 9.24%, while Gulf Warehousing led losers with a 8.91% decrease.

Gulf International saw a trading volume of 1.62 million shares traded at QAR 69.84 million through 486 trades.

The main index closed yesterday in green, as it grew 2.64% or 230 points to 8,979.5 points.
