Qatari stocks gain 63 points at close

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Exchange’s main index rose on Thursday by 0.61% or 63.32 points to the level of 10,376.20 points.

Al Rayan Islamic Index also leapt by 0.79% to 4,061.95 points, and the All Share Index advanced 0.57% to 2,881.97 points.

Trading volume rose 34.5% to 10.85 million shares from 8.07 million shares exchanged yesterday.

Turnover also increased 52.14% to QAR 493.38 million ($135.51 million) from QAR 324.28 million ($89.07 million) on Wednesday.

The telecom was the best performing sector as it leapt 2.64%, followed by industrial (+1.87%), transportation (+0.81%) and real estate (+0.13%).

On the other hand, the consumer goods and services, insurance and banking sectors retreated 0.45%, 0.10% and 0.02% respectively

Qatari Investors Group topped gainers by adding 10%, while Qatari German for Medical Devices was the worst performer as it slid 4.72%.

Qatar Gas Transport Limited (Nakilat) was the largest-traded stock with 1.2 million shares exchanged at QAR 28.46 million ($7.82 million).

Qatari Investors made the highest liquidity with QAR 55.57 million ($15.26 million) as 1 million shares were exchanged.

The bourse’s main gauge shrank yesterday by 0.04% or 3.79 points to 10,312.88 points.
