Qatari stocks lose 100 points at close

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) main index closed Tuesday 1.13% or 100.24 points lower to the level of 8,748.32 points.

Al Rayan Islamic Index also dropped 1.10% to 3,114.75 points, and the All Shares Index slipped 1.06% to 2,327.32 points.

Trading volume reached 6.18 million shares worth QAR 217.42 million through 3,358 trades, compared to 6.80 million shares exchanged at QAR 237.80 million through 3,810 transactions on Monday.

The transportation and industrial sectors were the worst index components as they declined by 2.10% and 1.51% respectively, while insurance only lost 0.60%, the day’s slightest decline.

Out of 38 stocks, four closed in green, 32 others dipped and the two remaining stood at the same rates.

Widam topped risers by adding 3.29%, whereas Al Khaleej Takaful headed losers after a 7% drop.

Barwa Real Estate saw a trading volume of 870,800 traded shares, while QNB led in value as with QAR 40 million turnover.

The bourse’s main index closed Monday at the level of 8,848.86 points after falling 1.48% or 132.75 points.
