Dubai – Mubasher: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has approved the final designs of Expo 2020 Dubai’s public bus stations.
The RTA plans to construct 14 passenger-bus stations that will be connected to the Dubai Bus network following the event’s completion, in addition to establishing a bus depot at Al Quoz, according to Dubai Media Office.
The locations of the stations were selected carefully to meet the needs of highly populated residential areas, director-general and chairman of RTA Mattar Al Tayer said, noting that project complies with the Dubai Universal Design Code for People of Determination.
Three permanent stations at the Business Bay, Jebel Ali, and Al Baraha will be set up as part of the project, as well as five temporary new stations at Dubai Silicon Oasis, Global Village, Meydan, Palm Jumeirah, and Al Jadaf, Al Tayer continued.
The project also includes the development of six existing stations at Etisalat, Union Square, and Al Ghubaiba, and upgrading bus facilities at Al Maktoum International Airport and Dubai International Airport, he added.
He said that the architectural design of the station was inspired by natural elements in the environment of the UAE.
The project will also cover the improvement of the public transport routes and systems serving Expo 2020 Dubai, as well as the deployment of taxis for the event’s visitors, Al Tayer indicated.
It is worth noting that the RTA’s bus station project is part of a master plan for transit during the Expo 2020 Dubai.
