Railway Forum discusses Saudi projects, new technologies

Riyadh – Mubasher: The 2020 Railway Forum, organized by the Saudi Railway Company (SAR) on 28-29 January, highlighted transportation and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia and the main features of its competitiveness in the logistics sector.

The event, held under the patronage of King Salman of Saudi Arabia, was the first of its kind in the kingdom and was attended by a number of ministers, officials from international organizations and companies interested in transportation, especially in railway projects.

SAR 400 billion were invested in infrastructure over the last ten years, which is signalling a real desire to take advantage of the kingdom's location between three continents, said the Saudi Minister of Transport, Saleh bin Nasser Al Jasser.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the Saudi Railway Company (SAR), Bashar Al Malek, said that the forum reflects the importance of the place in gathering local and international experts in the railway industry to present and discuss success stories and exchange of experiences and services provided through this industry.

Al Malek further noted that SAR has transported around 47 million tons of fuel, which contributed to the displacement of four million trucks from the road, according to a press release.

Focus on the railway and transportation industries is part of efforts to adopt latest technologies, investment opportunities in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
