Ras Al-Khaimah exports hit AED 3.4bn in 2017

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Ras Al-Khaimah had seen an accelerated growth pace over the last years, driving the emirate’s gross domestic product (GDP) to AED 35.1 billion in 2016, up from AED 17.6 billion in 2010, Mohammed Hassan Al Sabab, director general of RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has said.

These indicators have boosted Ras Al-Khaimah’s position and increased foreign investor confidence in the emirate as a safe investment destination, Al Sabab added.

Ras Al-Khaimah’s exports amounted to AED 3.4 billion in 2017, the top official said, noting that the UAE northernmost emirate boasts of a slew of investment opportunities in various sectors stretching from tourism to healthcare, education, information technology, industry and construction fields.

Ras Al-Khaimah ranked second in terms of attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the industrial sector with 30%, Al-Ittihad newspaper reported, citing the economy ministry’s initial data.

More than 1 million tourists are expected to visit Ras Al Khaimah before the end of 2018 on the back of large developments in the tourism sector, the official said.
