Abu Dhabi- Mubasher: Ras Al Khaimah's tourism revenues grew by 12.4% during 2015 compared to the previous year, according to the data released by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAK TDA on Tuesday.
The number of Ras Al Khaimah visitors increased by 6% year-o-year to reach 740,380 in 2015.
RAK has achieved the highest increase in room revenues during the previous five years by 12.1%, said Haitham Mattar, CEO of RAK TDA, pointing out that this increase reflected on room revenues which increased by 10% during that period to reach AED 355.93
Mattar explained that the occupancy rate rose by 9.7% to 64.7% in 2015, (and the daily price of the daily price average increased by 7% compared to 2014.
He confirmed that these results achieved steady growth over the past four years, which enables Ras Al Khaimah to achieve its vision to attract a million visitors by the end of 2018.
In 2016, the efforts will be made to diversify the demographics of visitors, focus heavily on the offers adapted to the needs of the global market through a strategic partnership with the leading companies in the sector, in addition to implementing promotional activities in target markets.
He continued that domestic tourism showed sustained annual growth as it currently forms 47.7% of the total number of visitors to Ras Al Khaimah.
United Kingdom and India emerged as the fastest growing markets, while visitors from Germany scored a significant increase in spite of currency fluctuations.
