Real estate, banks drag ADX down Thursday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) ended Thursday in the red, weighed by the real estate, banks, and telecommunications sectors.

The general index dropped 1.09% or 53.58 points to close at 4,872.03 points. Thursday’s decline breaks a three-session rising streak.

Turnover amounted to AED 162 million after 58.154 million shares were exchanged through 1,183 transactions.

The real estate sector fell 2.06% after Aldar Properties shed 2.53%, while the banks sector decreased 1.71% after First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) lost 2.44%, while Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) declined 1.54% and 1.51%, respectively.

The telecommunications sector and its only stock Etisalat lost 0.30% each. On the other hand, the energy sector gained 2.40% on the back of Dana Gas’ 2.7% increase.
