Real estate, banks drive QSE down early Thursday

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index declined in Thursday’s early trades, shedding 0.37% or 38 points to 10,334.18 points.

Turnover reached QAR 27.66 million after 1.2 million shares were traded through 255 transactions by 10:10am Qatar time.

Five sectors were in the red, led by insurance with 3.2%, pressured by Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance and Qatar Islamic Insurance, which dropped 3.98% and 3.79%, respectively, leading losers.

The real estate sector fell 0.65%, weighed down by four of its stocks, led by United Development’s 1.5% loss. The banking sector slipped 0.08% after four stocks were down, led by Qatar First Bank (QFB), which fell 0.65%.

On the flipside, two sectors were in the green, namely: telecommunications and transport, which grew 0.3% and 0.29%, respectively.

Islamic Holding Group (IHG) led risers on Thursday, adding 2.97% to QAR 62.4.

Vodafone Qatar, down 0.55%, was the most active in terms of traded volume with 983,52 shares exchanged at a turnover of QAR 10.73 million.

Industries Qatar, up 0.09%, registered the highest turnover of QAR 13.07 million after 122,64 shares were exchanged.

The general index ended Wednesday in the red, slipping 0.15% or 15.98 points and closed at 10,372.20 points.
