Real estate, telecom sectors drag down ADX at Sunday’s close

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Sunday’s trading session in negative territory, pressured by the fall of the real estate and telecommunication sectors.

The general index inched down by 9.99 points, or 0.2%, closing the first session of the week at 4,975.31 points.

The ADX’s trading volume reached 25.09 million shares exchanged with a turnover of AED 76.80 million through 932 transactions.

The real estate sector topped decliners with 0.72% as RAK Properties and Eshraq Properties went down 1.27% and 0.84%, respectively.

The telecommunication sector and its sole stock, Etisalat, retreated 0.59% each, while the banks sector inched down 0.09% as Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) and First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) fell 1.42% and 0.14%, respectively.

On the other hand, the consumer staples sector topped gainers, adding 2.65% due to Agthia’s 3.12% increase, while the energy sector rose 0.78% as Dana Gas advanced 1.38%.
