Cairo – Mubasher: Renaissance Capital on Monday announced new appointments for its Egyptian unit.
The research firm named Marios Hadjiyiannakis as chairman for its Egyptian office’s board of directors.
The Russian-based company also announced the appointment of Amr Helal as the CEO for North Africa, according to an official statement.
The appointments follow the resignation of Capital's CEO for MENA and head of MENA equities Ahmed Badr to pursue other career opportunities.
Hadjiyiannakis will be responsible for organising the board’s work at Renaissance Egypt and supervising relations with key stakeholders in line with being the CEO of Cyprus office, the statement added.
“Marios Hadjiyiannakis is one of the Firm’s longest-serving employees and most seasoned managers. He has a vast and profound knowledge of Renaissance Capital’s operations, including in the MENA region, where he has been heavily involved in the activities of the Firm,” Co-CEO of Renaissance Capital Anna Vyshlova said.
Helal will be a Cairo-resident to report the work update to Hadjiyiannakis, while leading the company’s franchise in North Africa, the leading emerging and frontier markets investment bank indicated.
“Amr has been with the Firm since October 2017 as an independent non-executive director in Cairo, hence his vast knowledge of our business, client offering and operations will ensure a smooth and well-managed transition,” Co-CEO of Renaissance Capital Ruslan Babaev commented.
Helal has over 17 years of experience in private equity and investment banking in the region. He held senior roles in several leading companies including EFG-Hermes and the UAE's Abraaj Group.
