Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s tourism revenues are likely to increase by more than $3 billion annually as Russian tourists are returning to the North African nation after the resumption of flights between the two countries, according to a report by Goldman Sachs.
All fights will be resumed within the coming weeks after a five-year hiatus since the 2015 Metrojet crash in Sinai which made Russia ban direct flights to Red Sea resorts.
The number of Russian tourists to Egypt exceeded 3.1 million in 2014, a third of all tourists coming to the country, falling to an average of 100,000 annually since the plane accident in October 2015.
