Russia’s Rosneft eyes raising stake in Egypt’s Zohr to 35%

Cairo – Mubasher: The Russian oil company Rosneft is studying the acquisition of another 5% in Egypt’s gas field Zohr, according to CEO Igor Sechin.

On 9 October, the Russian oil company purchased 30% of the Italian Eni’s stake at Zohr field at a value of $1.125 billion.

Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi had previously said that the company plans to cut its stake in Zohr to 50%.

Descalzi also stressed that gas should be produced at the Egyptian field by the end of 2017.
