S.Korean firm may take role in Saudi nuclear projects

Riyadh – Mubasher: South Korea-based Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO) has been added to the shortlist of companies that may participate in Saudi Arabia's nuclear projects, the South Korean energy ministry said on Sunday.

This list also includes companies from Russia, China, France, and the US, the ministry added.

"We were informed by our Saudi counterpart, King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, that KEPCO was shortlisted for a nuclear project in Saudi Arabia," Reuters reported, citing the ministry’s statement.

The oil-rich kingdom is planning to implement a slew of nuclear projects as part of its "Saudi Vision 2030" reform plan, intended to diversify the GCC nation’s economy and invest more heavily in infrastructure.
