Riyadh – Mubasher: The mechanical works of the polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) plant have been completed on 9 April, Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) said.
The commissioning of the joint venture is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2017 for about six months, after which the commercial operations will begin, according to a bourse filing on Monday.
The financial impact on the company‘s results is expected to appear after the announcement of the commercial operations.
In 2014, SABIC entered a joint venture with Mitsubishi Rayon to establish and operate two projects in Jubail Industrial City; one for the production of methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA) with a 250,000-metric-tonne annual capacity, and the other for PMMA with an annual capacity of 40,000 metric tonnes.
