SABIC in talks to invest in Iraq's Nebras petrochemical project

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) is in talks to be a partner in the Iraq-based Nebras petrochemical project, said an advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

The talks between Saudi Arabia and Iraq have reached an advanced stage, Reuters reported, citing Kadhim Mohammed as saying during CWC’s Iraq Petroleum Conference held in Berlin.

The world’s fourth-biggest petrochemicals company will join the project as a fourth partner with Royal Dutch Shell, the Iraqi Oil Ministry, and the Agriculture Ministry, Hassan added.

“The Nebras project is still in the pre-FEED (front end engineering design) stage,” Reuters reported.

In December 2017, SABIC reopened its office in Iraq.
